About!
This unique program is all about making the process of stretching exciting and fun, by implementing an enjoyable strategy that will keep you interested and craving for more. Achieving the splits to an impressive level requires us to develop a foundation from where we can start to improve from. If we work on developing “correct alignment” from the very beginning, you’ll be learning the splits only once, instead of having to re-learn something due to a misalignment. Stretching not only helps to prevent injuries, but it increases our range of motion. All the stretches we do will need to be held for a minimum of 30 seconds to 1 minute. Stretching should be mildly uncomfortable, so if you feel a twinge of pain or extreme pain it means you're pushing the stretch too far. Remember to breathe (long breaths and long exhales) while stretching and sink lower into a stretch on an "exhale".
EXCITING AND FUN
During your class, we think of ideas to make it fun. Setting a very difficult but achievable goal can give you high motivation. Having music playing can inspire you and is another way of keeping it fun. During some of the stretches, you can watch your favourite program. Change locations regularly and stretch in pleasant and interesting places like at a park or at the beach. The whole idea of making the program fun is that you’ll want to keep progressing with the program right through until the very end and beyond (so it is a very mild lifestyle change).
GOAL SETTING
Try to put systems in place to keep you organised and consistant (and develop a schedule to stretch). Flexibility takes time. A tip is not to let yourself get discouraged. The way to give yourself a positive mindset, is to have lots of positive minded people around you. You want to be as optimistic and as open-minded as you can because that is what will help you achieve your goals. Adding a goal is a change in your life and change takes time to work into your schedule. Start out small and incorporate change and we can then start to build a foundation. Finding a system to make it stick is the key. Start your day with a goal you've written down (maybe putting it on the fridge). Setting the goal is the first step; know where you're going and what resources you'll need, and who can help. Focus on one goal and build on that to boost your confidence and pick up speed. Always write the goal down. Writing it down is a way to keep you committed and focused, and even better, find a visual to represent your goal so you can see it.
